Before heading for the mosque, we visited another “hidden treasure” just behind the mosque, the Midrand Madhya Kailash Temple. Very beautiful, very colourful, very quiet AND we were allowed to take as many photos as we wanted, barefooted that is, shoes are not allowed to be worn anywhere else but in the main parking lot!
Having visited the Nizamiye Turkish Masjid Mosque in August 2014 with other fellow photographers, a return visit with the Joburg Photowalkers (http://www.meetup.com/joburg-photowalkers/) was a must. Knowing our way around this time helped a lot, and thanks to Paul & Mark (Joburg Photowalkers), this time we were able to get onto the roof of the restaurant…
New places found, new adventures had, thanks JHB Photowalkers (http://www.meetup.com/joburg-photowalkers/) . The road to and from was just as interesting………I even managed a few photos out the car window while travelling at 120km/ph…..but I wasn’t driving….. More photos like these are to be found on http://www.facebook.com/Sioux’zWorld
…….somewhere between Deneysville and over there…..I watched some very brave youngsters jumping from the top of the bridge into the water below……one of them was wearing blue reflective glasses that made for a great “postcard” type image. More images on http://www.facebook.com/Sioux’zWorld
Just outside of Deneysville is an abandoned pleasure resort that burnt down some years ago. The derelict buildings made for some fun and very different photos. As I enjoy post-processing effects, I had loads of fun creating some very different images……I don’t just take photos, I make them too!
With not much in the way of scenery at the dam wall, with cameras in hand, we found subjects of other sorts…..
A recent trip with the JHB Photowalkers (http://www.meetup.com/joburg-photowalkers/) to the Vaal Dam wall, started with breakfast at the Blockhouse Wimpy and a tramp about to the old blockhouse and the derelict buildings close by, some interesting photography opportunities and results.
