About Sioux

Climb high or go low, even under the fence, but get where you need to be to get that all important shot! This was taken at Tankwa Karoo National Park.

Photographed while at Tankwa Karoo National Park, in December 2013.

More about Sioux
Having had an interest in photography for many years, I purchased my first film camera at the tender age of 11, for the very grand amount of R0.99c! I graduated to a Yashica 35mm as a 21st birthday gift from my Dad; years later purchased a Nikon FG 35mm SLR. With the onset of the digital age, came an Olympus common-garden-type muk ‘n druk (point & shoot). For my 50th, Paul decided a Canon 400D DSLR would be an ideal gift and how right he was! The bug bit all over again, my fun with a camera started a long time ago and shows no signs of abating! I have since upgraded to a Canon 550D and 600D, which although not top of the range, mostly give me the images I imagined.

My favourite subjects? Anything that can be photographed and provide a good / interesting / beautiful / funny image! I love shooting wildlife, and enjoy the challenge of land & seascapes. Buildings, especially doors and windows also tend to grab my attention. Macro photography is fun as you see a world that normally passes by “underfoot”.

I test out various scenarios, sometimes just clicking away madly, other times actually planning a shot, usually coming up with a fairly favourable result.

My travelling & photography partner, Paul, also has more than just a passing interest in photography, also spanning a few years. Together, we have traveled to some interesting places, sometimes only an hour or 2’s drive away from home, others a day’s flight away. Where ever we go, our cameras & lenses tend to weigh more than our luggage! This site is a combination of our photos.

All in all, our photography is a passion shared, a world explored, a journey enjoyed.

These links will take you to yet more of my images, and also books that I have published along the way.
