These musta made a whole heck of a lot of jam!
A business trip to the Cape, a long weekend with family……… and my camera. A great weekend, with some night time photo fun!
So moody, so lonely
The full moon was so bright we hardly needed a torch to see where we were going, however it didn’t make for good star trail photography
A welcoming oasis in a hot, dusty area. The owners are friendly, helpful and ready to serve a thirsty traveler an ice cold frosty!
A perfect setting………rough seas………a perfect summer evening…..a sunset…..what more could an aspiring photographer ask for
A hot, balmy December evening was the perfect opportunity for an early evening dinner picnic and to watch the sunset
Adding a star filter to an 18-55mm lens made for a stunning effect on the sunlit water
Sadly star trails were not meant to be on this trip due a very bright full moon, but we did manage some interesting night time shots
The late afternoon light on this abandoned relic, coupled with dark, stormy skies yielded some beautiful colours
The beauty of Tankwa National Park is that you can get out of your vehicle at any time, to view your surroundings a little closer
A long and dusty road, looking as if it led to nowhere……but it didnt
Was this wagon deserted here, or left intentionally knowing that some intrepid photographer would happen along
Trusty steeds waiting patiently to take their masters home, once they have quenched their thirsts
We wondered about the deserted houses in Tankwa, and when asking questions, found out that these were originally farms that had been amalgamated to form the National Park, the buildings farmhouses, now abandoned for greener pastures
We were unable to identify this raptor as it flew swiftly off its perch, the minute we approached, looking more like a rocket being launched than a bird taking off
The blooms on these succulents were so tiny, not much bigger than a finger nail, yet so perfect
Nothing maybe, but definitely beautiful!
Late evening street lights, camera on tripod, slow shutter speed……and nature supplied the rest
Just don’t get a flat tyre, there isn’t any help anywhere nearby!
Heat haze evident in the far background
Waiting patiently for the oncoming sunset
The light of the full moon, coupled with night time cloud cover, made for an almost ghostly looking image
A windmill and a man made dam……typical South African desert setting…….just add wind
Driving from Cape Town to Tankwa National Park, there are more than just a few opportunities to stop for photo shoots
So old, but in the perfect setting!
3 torches, a slow shutter speed…..interesting results!
